g. DESCRIPTION: | Per the Reporting Party : His company manages an apartment complex property that has man-made pond / lake on the property. The pond (that contains fish, turtles and ducks) is treated with unknown type chemicals twice a week for the past 5 years. The most recent treatment was on 9/10/24. The name of the company treating the water is Bay Water Works. The reporting party is not sure why they treat the pond or what chemicals they use. For possibly the past 2 days the pond has been releasing about 5 gallons of water every hour due to a drain overflow causing the released water to go into a nearby creek (Calabazas Creek) as well as a city storm drain (unknown where storm drain leads to). The release has been stopped. Per reporting party the Fire Department responded due to a complaint about the water escaping from the pond being blue and green in color. All of the animals that live in the pond are alive and do not appear to have been affected. The water that escaped was not recoverable. | ||
