g. DESCRIPTION: | Per the reporting party: While conducting excavation operations at Tioga Pass Resort, contractors discovered two 200 gallon gas tanks that were hiding underneath the asphalt. Upon exposure, the reporting party discovered that the entire area surrounding those gas tanks was saturated with gasoline that had came from those tanks. A strong odor is emitting from the area. It is unknown of when or how this release occurred, however the caller believes these tanks to be well over 50 years in age. It is believed that other surrounding areas that have not been unearthed have also been saturated with gasoline. The area of release neighbor's Glacier Creek, which is a tributary of Mono Lake. At the time of report, no water has been impacted, however the reporting party is incredibly concerned that an oncoming storm will wash the exposed material into the creek and down into Mono Lake, which is believed to be a source of drinking water for the local populace. No actions have been taken by the resort management and all concerns brought to their attention have been ignored. | ||
