g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party: Due to a failed differential pressure gauge, jet fuel began releasing out onto the equipment pad at John Wayne Airport and flowed down to the loading island, where trucks are refueled. The island has an isolated secondary containment drain that is used to separate oil and water which is where the reporting party was able to calculate the amount of fuel released. This release began sometime after 1130 hours but was discovered at 1240 hours. The release was then isolated and stopped. The reporting party utilized vacuum trucks to remove 490 gallons of the fuel that got into the secondary containment drain and the remaining 10 gallons on the ground was collected using absorbents, where it was then placed in hazardous waste bins. An investigation will be conducted.
