Orignal Description:Per reporting Party: Due to the snow storm a tree fell on the power lines causing 2 poles with transformers to fall over into a residents yard. This caused a release of 25 gallons of transformer mineral oil to release out to the snow but most of it was frozen. The frozen oil was removed as best possible. It then started to rain causing a sheen which then ran into the storm drain that leads into the Sacramento River. | ||||||

SITUATION UPDATE: | |
Per NRC report: Caller stated a large tree fell due to the snow load which caused 2 Power poles to come down. There was a release of transformer oil Containing PCB's onto the ground. The material froze in the snow but when it started to melt a sheen was noticed on the ground leading to The Sacramento River. The sheen was intermittent for about 50 feet and was rainbow in Color Remedial Action: Removed contaminated snow, deployed absorbent booms in the storm drain and roadway with pads, will return day for any other actions and possibly remove the absorbent pads, sub contractor removed the transformer and put poles back up. | |
