Orignal Description:Per the reporting party, the Harbor Police of San Diego discovered an abandoned vessel that was sinking. The Harbor Patrol's vessel unit was dewatering the vessel, and an unknown sheen was observed in the water. The sheen was caused by the partial sinking of the vessel, and it is a combination of oil and diesel fuel. There is a tow boat recovering the vessel. The sinking vessel's vessel identification number is: Z3922KF000, and it's license number is: 3922 KFN. Tow Boat USA is performing the clean-up including vessel recovery. It is a 32 foot vessel, and it's body class is C. Currently the spill is not stopped or contained.

SITUATION UPDATE:
Per the NRC Report, the caller reported the discovery of an abandoned sinking vessel. A sheen from a release of an unknown amount of diesel fuel and motor oil was observed on the waters of the San Diego Bay. The sheen was about 40 feet by 20 feet in size. The vessel’s name is the Triton, and it is a pleasure craft. The environmental impact is unknown. Salvage and clean-up are underway. It is unknown if the release is secured.
