g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, there was a sewage spill that was caused by an unknown partial blockage, but the City of Beaumont Waste Water Department believes it was caused by rags and grease. They received the initial notification at 1058 on 07/14/2024, but the actual time that the overflow began is unknown. It is estimated that it was spilling at a rate of 25 gallons per minute. At 1219 in the morning on 07/15/2024, the blockage was cleared and the overflow was stopped and controlled. The overflow involved a 15 inch plastic main line. The spill impacted the roadway and a storm drain catch basin. Most of the released sewage entered the storm basin, and a small amount was recovered from the road. City of Beaumont Waste Water Department personnel are cleaning it up. There will be an ongoing investigation as to the cause.
