Orignal Description:Per reporting party, a BNSF train (HBAR SDG 109) with lead locomotive (BNSF 8212) struck a trespasser on a Metrolink railroad track. The trespasser sustained a minor injury to the arm, with no further details available. The main line was closed for investigation, and it is currently unknown if it has been reopened. It is also unclear whether local police or fire departments were notified, as the incident did not occur on BNSF property.

Per NRC Report # 1404235, "Caller stated an Eastbound freight train struck and injured a trespasser on the main line. Caller stated this incident is on a passenger train line and there is an Amtrak passenger train delay."
---INCIDENT DETAILS---Grade Crossing: NO. Location Subdivision: ORANGE. Railroad Milepost: 175.4. Passenger Train Route: YES. Passenger Train Delay Expected: YES. Passenger Train Delay Handling: CALLER STATED THE PASSENGERS ARE STAYING ON THE TRAIN UNTIL THE TRACKS ARE OPEN WHICH SHOULD BE SHORTLY.

---REMEDIAL ACTIONS---INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY.

Per NRC Report #1404236, "The caller reported that a BNSF freight train on a passenger route struck an unknown pedestrian on the tracks. This did not occur at a grade crossing. The individual was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. There were no derailments, and no materials were reported released. The track was closed for 2 hours but is back in service."
