| g. DESCRIPTION: | Per the Reporting Party: An electric vehicle (Nissan Leaf) caught fire due to unknown cause while plugged into a charging station for 45 minutes. During fire fighting efforts approximately 35,000 gallons of water was expended with approximately 99% of that water going into a storm drain. It is unknown where the storm drain leads to. The fire department has stopped flowing water to the vehicle as fire is possibly extinguished but are still on scene monitoring for possible flare ups. A plan to safely remove and store the vehicle is being organized. There were no reported injuries associated with this incident. The water that went into storm drain is unrecoverable. Riverside County Environmental Health is also on scene. The reporting party wanted to note that during fire suppression efforts (8) Fire Fighters were exposed to the lithium ion batteries that were on fire; none are currently experiencing any symptoms. | ||
