Orignal Description:Per reporting party, A freight train (OUTS1 of the 20th) ran a red signal and collided with another train (YPUP08 of the 23rd), causing at least two locomotives and two railcars to derail. The four railcars, which are loaded with ore, are currently full. There have been no releases at this time. The exact positions of the derailed railcars are unclear, although some are on their side. The first train, OUTS1 of the 20th, is leaning against a third train (8JTDRJJ of the 22nd) on Main Track 3, with the lead locomotive, number 6305, being a BNSF locomotive.
Update(s): 12/23/2024 02:51:48 PM - Per NRC: The caller stated that (3) freight trains were involved in a derailment incident that resulted in tracks 1,2,and 3 being closed in all directions. The incident occurred when one of the trains ran a red signal at a grade crossing. As of the time of this call there have been (4) locomotives from one train, and (4) railcars loaded with ore that derailed from another train. Currently there is a potential for more cars and locomotives to derail as the incident progresses. There has been no reported release of material nor does the caller believe there is a potential for materials to release. The third freight train involved had no reported derailments, however one of the other trains is currently leaning on that train. There were damages that occurred during this incident, however the price point for those damages has yet to be set.
