Orignal Description:Reporting Party states - a PG&E truck was transporting 2 transformers in San Francisco, the truck slammed on the brakes causing the transformers to release the material into the truck bed and onto the street. 5 gallons went into the storm drain, only the catch basin was impacted none of the material made it beyond the storms drain. Traffic control is in place during the cleanup. Clean harbors was contracted by PG&E to conduct the cleanup. PER NRC Report " THE CALLER REPORTED THAT A PG&E COMMERCIAL TRUCK WAS TRANSPORTING A COUPLE OF TRANSFORMERS. THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO APPLY HARSH BRAKING, WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSFORMERS TO IMPACT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE IMPACT CAUSED 80 GALLONS OF NON PCB TRANSFORMER OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE ROADWAY, FIVE GALLONS OF WHICH REACHED A NEARBY STORM DRAIN. CLEANUP CREW AND TRAFFIC CREW RESPONDED. ABSORBENTS HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED. A SAMPLE WAS TAKEN FOR ANALYSIS. CREWS ARE CLEANING THE ROAD. | ![]() | ![]() | ||||
