g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting parting, due mechanical failure involving a gasket malfunction resulted in the release of approximately 100 pounds of Freon from a refrigeration unit into the atmosphere. The local fire department and HazMat team responded promptly to the scene, evacuating approximately 20 individuals from the affected business and the adjacent building. The local fire department successfully secured the leak by re-securing the faulty gasket. An unknown quantity of Freon remains in the system; however, the release has been halted, and the substance has dissipated into vapor, rendering containment unnecessary at this time.
