| g. DESCRIPTION: | Per the Reporting Party : An old abandon building (previously a bar/restaurant) caught fire; during the fire fighting operation approximately 40,000 gallons of water (standard water, no additives) used in the fire fighting effort flowed into the surrounding area, with much of the water entering the San Diego River which is located approximately 700 feet south of the business. Some of the water may have entered nearby storm drains as well. There was no known hazardous materials in the fire. Mission Center Road was closed between Mission Center Court and Hazard Center Drive. There were no reported injuries or fatalities but location is known for homeless squatters. The fire department took a defensive posture on the fire and have not yet searched the entire interior of the building. There are several hot spots still within voids inside the structure. There were no evacuations. The cause of the fire is undetermined as is the dollar amount of damage. Arson investigators responded to the scene and will be conducting an investigation. The building responsible has been contacted and is on scene. City Public Works is handling any street clean up. The San Diego Police Department also responded to the scene. | ||
