| g. DESCRIPTION: | Per Reporting Party : A vegetation fire occurred adjacent to a fence surrounding a business which had 4 or 5 - 55 gallon drums containing an unknown liquid material located near the fence that ignited and released the material onto the asphalt service. The Fire Department extinguished the vegetation fire and the drums; the color of the smoke was unknown and no mentioned odors associated with the liquid. The run off from the fire fighting water (approximately 200 gallons) as well as liquid released from the barrels collected into a loading bay area where it was contained. No storm drains or waterways were affected. There were no injuries. The business was closed at the time of the fire. It is being assumed that the barrels possibly contained hazardous material because the business property they are located on is a hazardous waste transporter. There were labels on the barrels but they were been destroyed in the fire and are no longer legible. Efforts to contact the business owner have so far been unsuccessful; the Reporting Party will attempt to make contact Monday when business is open again. It is unknown who will be handling clean up; the property owner will be contacted tomorrow morning to possibly arrange for a contractor. CHP was also on scene during the incident and temporarily shut down the north bound lanes of Highway 99 adjacent to the business. | ||
