DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party: RP's company was contacted as the clean up contractor to respond to the scene of a semi trailer that is stopped at a rest area off I-40 and leaking an unknown product. The semi trailer is hauling hydrochloric acid, lead acid batteries, and unspecified non-hazardous cargo. The placards on the trailer are UN 1789, UN 2794. The material leaking from the trailer is a clear liquid with no odor mentioned. It is unknown what caused the leak. The material is leaking onto soil. It is unknown if the fire department or CHP have been contacted to respond. No injuries were reported with the incident. The company owner of the trailer, Espes, contacted the reporting parties company to respond to the scene. ERTS is still looking for a crew to respond to the scene with no ETA. The material is still leaking from the trailer; no efforts to contain it are occurring. There was no mention of any nearby storm drains or waterways.
