g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party: A blockage of approximately 26,001 gallons of sanitary sewage was released onto a heavily vegetated easement away from the local populace. This blockage occurred due to a sag in the pipeline caused by natural shifting of the hill that the pipe runs under and a build-up of miscellaneous materials (grit and grease). This release began on 08/05/2024 at 1542 hours and was not stopped until 1154 hours 08/09/2024. The flow meter in place estimated a release rate of 4.7 gallons per minute. The blockage was jetted and broken up, restoring flow to the pipeline. Carmel Area Waste Water District is conducting cleanup at the time of report and will disinfect the area.
