g. DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party : "A 3rd party contractor excavating using a back hoe caused damage to a natural gas service line causing the release of natural gas into the atmosphere. This occurred at an apartment complex. The release is on going; Southern California Gas crews are on scene working to secure the release. The local fire department and police department are on scene. The Fire Department evacuated 50 people from 40 apartment units in 8 buildings at the Apartment Complex. Placer Street is closed from Hermosa Ave to Arrow Route. There are no injuries. The reporting party estimates the evacuation should be lifted in about 30 minutes.
