Orignal Description:Per the Reporting Party: A manhole was vandalized and removed by unknown person(s); large rocks were then thrown into the opening off the sewer main line causing a blockage. The released material flowed out from the removed man hole cover and entered a storm drain that leads eventually to Lake Oroville. The release has been stopped. Crews are on scene with a vac and pump truck cleaning up the area; reporting party believes they should be able to recover most material that went into the storm drain. A contractor is also in route to assist with clean up. There were no roadway closures. Reporting party has checked the area (via boat) where the storm drain discharges into Lake Oroville and did not locate any solids but said is possible some liquid may have entered the Lake.
Update(s): 12/09/2024 08:47:12 AM - Per reporting party, The crews on site conducted the clean up with a contractor. The surface clean up has been completed. There where no solids in the lake. The release is still under investigation with no impact to wildlife.
