Orignal Description:Caller states a gasoline tanker trailer overturned due to human error and is currently upside down, leaking fuel from an unknown source. There is a complete closure of the intersection of Fletcher Parkway and Navajo Rd, with a half-mile evacuation in each direction estimated to be 50-100 people. The semi-truck driver has been transported to a hospital. The tanker, with an estimated full capacity of 8,000 gallons, has most of the release contained within sand and berms. The release is currently greater than 2000 gallons. It is currently unknown how much fuel has entered the storm drain. Contractors are on scene currently performing cleanup. | ||||||
Update(s): 10/09/2024 06:00:11 PM - Per the NRC report: "The caller states a cargo tank motor vehicle loaded with 8600 gallons of gasoline, was making a left hand turn, from the Southside, and navigated the turn to fast, and tipped the truck. Product began leaking from the vents on the trailer. No waterways impacted. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Fletcher Parkway was closed for 7 hours while product was collected." Remedial Actions: "Berm was built, vac truck was utilized to vac product into containment tank." Vehicle Type: Tractor Trailer Truck. Vehicle Number: 6035. Vehicle Fuel Capacity: 9500 Gallon(s). Hazmat Carrier: Yes. Carrier Licensed: Yes. Suspected Non Compliance: No. Trailer/Tanker Number: 8080. Cargo Capacity: 9500 Gallon(s). Cargo On Board: 8600 Gallon(s). Per the reporting party: The vehicle was transporting 8600 gallons of gasoline. The responsible party was able to collect 1100 gallons of it while their contractor, Patriot Environmental, was able to collect the remaining 7500 gallons. No waterways were reported to have been impacted as dirt berms were built to prevent access. ; 10/09/2024 08:03:06 PM - Per the reporting party: The release has only been partially recovered. 3400 gallons of the material has been recovered and approximately 4400 gallons have not yet been cleaned up.
