DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, a mechanical failure on a tractor caused a hose to release approximately 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid onto the concrete surface, which subsequently flowed toward a nearby storm drain. Approximately 1 gallon of fluid entered the drain. The drain leads to a retention basin, and further downstream is a water treatment plant that does not supply drinking water. The release has been stopped and contained, and a contractor has been engaged to manage the cleanup. Absorbent materials have been applied to assist in the containment and remediation efforts.
