Orignal Description:Per reporting party, an initial call reported a 55 ft trailer leaking Solid Sulfuric Acid (gelatinous substance), covering an area of approximately 10 ft x 10 ft. The release is approximately 6 inches deep and it is actively leaking into the rest area parking lot. The maximum capacity the trailer is carrying is unknown. No waterways were impacted by this release. Environmental health, local sheriffs, and Caltrans have been notified and are assumed to be en route. An immediate evacuation of the area within 25 meters has been initiated. Fire Hazmat Team 77 is en route to the location. The rest area is currently closed until the investigation concludes. Per reporting party, it was a 40 ft dump-type trailer. The trailer was carrying 16 tons of Solid Phosphoric Acid, initially thought to be Solid Sulfuric Acid. Evacuations of the immediate area are still in place, with a hard closure by Caltrans. Fish and Game arrived at 1502 hours. As of now reporting party advised that no waterways have been impacted. | |
