g. DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party : The company owns an office building that has a 3 floor subterranean parking structure that has a pit beneath it that contains an unknown amount of water. Normally this water is rain water and a pump is set up to remove the rain water from the pit and pump it into a storm drain. At some point the caller believes another source of ground water began intruding into the pit because it continues to contain water and has not rained recently. The City of Santa Monica Water Division tested some of the water being pumped out of the pit into the storm drain and the test results came back today to the reporting party indicating that the water being pumped out contains TCE (trichloroethylene) at 23 micrograms per liter and PCE (Tetrachloroethene) at 1.2 micrograms per liter (unknown source of the TCE or PCE). The water pump is currently discharging the pit water at a flow rate of 200 gallons per hour and has been operating continuously since April 16th, 2024. Reporting party states the City of Santa Monica advised them that by May 17th they needed to have an interim plan in place to stop the discharge and that by the end of May they needed to have a permanent resolution and plan in place. The water pump is currently still in operation pumping the pit water. Clean Harbor Environmental was on site today; they are supposed to be delivering a 20,000 gallon "frac" tank to contain the water being pumped and then will work on disposing of the water. Tank delivery scheduled for May 10th or May 13th. It is unknown where the storm drain that is receiving the water leads to. The incident location is located approximately 2.3 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
