g. DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party : A Navy vessel (USS Makin Island) reported that they spotted a sheen in the water near Pier 8 at US Naval Base San Diego. They did not provide a size of the sheen only that it was rainbow colored. It is unknown what the source of the sheen is. Absorbent pads were deployed to recover some of the material and the remainder dissipated.

Per the NRC Report : "The caller stated that they discovered an unknown sheen from an unknown source at Pier 8 in Berth 6 in the San Diego Bay." Remedial Actions : "The caller stated that they deployed booms and deemed the material
as unrecoverable. An investigation into the source was conducted with negative results."
