Orignal Description:Per the reporting party, due to human error a private citizen spilled approx half a cup of mercury into his vehicle. The citizen went to a near by car wash and vacuumed said substance. The citizen proceed to go home and possibly contaminated his home. At the time of this report it is unknown if the release is stopped and contained. Unknown who will be handling the cleanup. Caller stated they will be calling in updates.
Update(s): 02/26/2024 12:55:51 AM - Per reporting party: The vehicle has been confirmed to be contaminated with mercury. Currently, they are awaiting verification regarding whether the home has also been affected. Out of the 8 individuals involved, 7 have been cleared, while one individual required decontamination. Lumex results are still pending, and they are awaiting further information.









; 02/26/2024 04:03:36 AM - Per Reporting Party: Mercury was discovered to be above threshold at the house so the house has been red tagged. Beads of mercury were identified within the vacuum of the car wash and to be above threshold (see confidential for address). It was also identified that the vehicle had beads of mercury within the vehicle which is located inside at a bus stop (see confidential for address). The new point of contact for this incident is California City Fire Department and they have reached out to a contractor to handle the clean up for the incident.
; 02/26/2024 09:46:07 AM - The vehicle in question was relocated to a different location by a third party (details provided in the Confidential Section). The individual who initially operated the vehicle is displaying symptoms and intends to undergo self-decontamination at the revised address (details in the Confidential Section). It has now been discovered that this individual may have exposed additional occupants in the household during their stay. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively managing the evolving situation.
