g. DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party: Due to the recent storms the capacity of their (4) 20,000 gallon storage tanks, that hold landfill Leachate, overflowed and released onto the ground, down a hill and into surrounding vegetation. Normally the Landfill Leachate is transported to a sewage treatment plant but it as well as others treatment plants in the area had all closed due to the storms. It was not able to be determined if any waterways or storm drains were affected. Samples of the landfill Leachate were taken and shown to be very diluted. The release is stopped. The material will be unrecoverable. The storage tanks have been pumped into tanker trucks now and hauled to the sewage treatment plant.

This occurred at a closed landfill (last active prior to 1986).
