Orignal Description:Caller states Union Pacific Railroad # OUTS1 of the 25th had 99 railcars derailed and ran uncontrolled due to unknown reasons at this time. Unknown if railcars are upright or on their side at this time. Train was heading southbound at the time of incident and a mainline is impacted. Estimated that it ran uncontrolled for 20-21 miles.

There are no reported of Hazmat released at this time. Iron Ore did impact the Kelso Wash.
Update(s): 03/27/2023 10:51:44 AM - PER NRC# 1363260, "THE CALLER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNCONTROL MOVEMENT OF A FREIGHT
TRAIN, WHICH RESULTED IN (99) CARS, AND (1) LOCOMOTIVE THAT
DERAILED. THE CARS THAT DERAILED CONTAINED AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF IRON
ORE. BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF IRON ORE RELEASED
ONTO THE BALLAST AND INTO THE KELSO WASH (A CREEK RUN-OFF). THE
MAINLINE TRACK WAS CLOSED IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THERE WERE NO REPORTED
INJURIES OR FATALITIES IN CONNECTION TO THIS INCIDENT. AT THIS TIME
A PRICE POINT FOR DAMAGES HAS YET TO BE SET, HOWEVER THE CALLER
SUSPECTS IT WILL MEET OR EXCEED (150,000) DOLLARS.

THE CALLER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPECIFICS ABOUT THE TRAIN INVOLVED
SUCH AS THE DERAILED CAR INFO, TRAIN SPEED, TRAIN DIRECTION, TRACK
SPEED, AND THE NUMBER OF LOCOMOTIVES AND CARS THE TRAIN HAD."

Caller states 300 gallons of diesel is released into the Kelso Wash. Spill has not been stopped but it is contained within a burm. Lead locomotive #UP7856 Second locomotive # UP6502.
