Orignal Description:Per the reporting party: A fire broke out at a Battery Energy Storage System which contains 800 individual Lithium Ion Batteries ( size is unknown) that are currently burning. Fire suppression water is being used and is flowing into near by storm drains. 1000 people have been evacuated from local business. Enterprise Street is currently closed in both directions due to fire suppression efforts. This release is not stopped or contained and fire suppression is currently active.
Update(s): 09/06/2024 03:23:27 PM - Reporting party called to update that she was with San Diego Gas and Electric. Fire Dept was on scene using cooling water to keep 2 battery packs from igniting with the impacted packs. These operations were suspended at 1000 hours today. All flames were knocked down and mitigated at 0400 hours today.
; 09/07/2024 09:08:27 AM - Per NRC report: Caller reported that a lithium-ion battery fire at sdg&e started around 1200 on 9/5. The fire has been releasing foul smelling chemicals to the air in the surrounding area. Caller is unaware of any evacuations taking place. Caller does not know if access to the area has been limited. Local news in san diego has reported the incident
; 09/07/2024 02:08:38 PM - Per reproting party: As of 1600 hours, CAPStone Fire will be taking over for Escondido Fire . The evacuation order has been lifted as of 1200 hours. Enterprise St. has now been open to the public The vacuum trucks that were on-site for runoff have been released as of 1600 hours on September 6, 2024. There is no longer a fire threat, and air quality readings have returned to normal levels as of Sept. 5, 2024 at 2030 hour. Monitoring will continue until September 9, 2024,
