Orignal Description:Per the Reporting Party: An underground pipe supplying drinking water broke due to an unknown cause and is releasing onto the street and sidewalk and then into a storm drain. The storm drain leads to Stevens Creek. The water is still releasing at a rate of about 60 gallons per minute. Creek Line Drive, Jeanette Drive, November Drive and Kenmore Drive are all closed to traffic in the area due to this. A 2 inch underground natural gas line located near the ruptured water supply line is also broken due to an unknown cause and is releasing natural gas into the atmosphere. The natural gas release is 10% of the LEO (lower explosive limit) at the source near the street. A representative from Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is on scene. San Jose Water Department representative is also on scene. The Santa Clara County Sheriffs Department is on scene as well. Approximately 50 residential homes have been evacuated of approximately 150 people. An evacuation relocation area for the evacuated subjects is at November Drive / Siesta Lane; evacuated subjects are in the process of arranging for transportation from there. There are no reported injuries associated with this incident. Reporting Party will call back to update when evacuations are lifted.
