g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, on 09/08/2024 at 2013 in the evening SpaceX had a lithium ion battery incident at their starship high voltage test lab. The battery cell started venting and releasing smoke. It was described as a battery unit for a spacecraft. The battery unit started smoking and releasing gas in the third floor of the starship high voltage test lab. The Los Angeles County Fire Department placed the battery unit outside the building in a water bath to allow the chemical reaction to cool over time. SpaceX personnel also added a solution of salt to the water bath. The battery unit will be left in the water bath to cool for seven days. It is likely that the venting gases contain carben dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen fluoride gases. The cause of the incident is under investigation. SpaceX personnel performed the clean-up.
