DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party: Due to a water extraction pump malfunction, a release of 28,000 gallons of contaminated water was released and entered a storm drain which deposits into Calabazas Creek. The release began at 0135 hours and was stopped at 1330 hours when ERM personnel discovered the release. They did so by shutting off the pump and sealing off the storm drain. Water recovery and cleanup has been conducted by ERM personnel with the assistance of a contractor. It is unknown what caused the pump malfunction and repairs will be conducted once that is identified.
