DESCRIPTION: Per the NRC report: "The caller is reporting a 30 gallon steel drum filled with 2 torch lighters, and the rest "Bic" style lighters that over pressured and popped the lid off the drum. The cause of the over pressure was due to the heat wave in the area. The caller states that the incident occurred when a fork-lift operator removed the 4 drum pallet from a tractor trailer and placed the pallet on the ground. The operator did not notice the drum had expanded, and was moving the drum to another trailer when it over pressured and pooped causing injury to the operator." Remedial Actions: "The lighters were placed in another drum and resealed, the operator was sent to the nearest hospital for injuries sustained, and the material dissipate naturally."
