DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, the Torrance Refinery Company is experiencing an unplanned flaring event which caused the release of more than 500 lbs. of sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere. The initial flaring began at 1208 this afternoon, and the excess of 500 lbs. was reached at 2027 this evening. There has been a public flare notification. The incident is currently ongoing, and it is under investigation.
