Orignal Description:Per the reporting party, on 09/23/2024 at 1626 in the afternoon, a broken pump in a settling tank at the Scattergood Generating Station caused the listed material to overflow. The initial spill amount was 35 gallons of mineral oil which mixed with water to amount to the listed oil and water mixture. The spill impacted an internal storm drain within the generating station. The LADWP internal Hazmat team is performing clean-up. The oil is contained within an inverted siphon. Per the NRC Report, a mixture of mineral oil and water released from equipment drains within the facility possibly due to a mechanical failure. It is unknown if the mineral oil contains PCB. Internal Hazmat team is handling the cleanup within the inverted siphon. It is unknown if the water supply is contaminated. The environmental impact is unknown. The release is secured. The caller states they do not believe the release went outside of the plant but out of an abundance of caution they wanted to make a notification.
