DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, at approximately 0900 this morning, the Carlsbad Fire Department responded to a natural gas release at the listed location which is San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E CNG) natural gas filling station. The relief valve on the natural gas tank on a private citizen's personal vehicle will not close. This caused the release of approximately 4 gallons of natural gas into the atmosphere. The full capacity of the tank is 13 gallons. The valve will not close, and it has been leaking continuously. This is an ongoing release. There is no vapor visible. There was no fire or explosion. There were no injuries or evacuations, and the area is safe. The Carlsbad Fire Department incident number is 2024-101263.
