g. DESCRIPTION: Per the Reporting Party : A suspect driving a vehicle struck a soil density meter located on the ground at a construction site (soil density meter is an "Instotech model MC3 PORTA"). A contractor at the construction site was also injured and being transported to a hospital. The soil density meter is broken into several pieces. A soil tester attached to the construction crew is operating a sensor meter that is picking up a low reading of beta and gamma radiation of 100 microrims at 5 feet from the debris. There is a yellow hazmat placard on the device that says "radiation". The Carlsbad Fire Department and San Diego City Fire Hazmat crew also responded. The construction crew contractor is in the process of contacting a company to remove the broken device. A San Diego County Environmental Health (Hazardous Material Division) representative is also on scene.
