Orignal Description:Per the reporting party: Passenger train #573 struck a van that was attempting to beat the train across a private crossing. This crossing does not have any lights, gates, or bells. Only the operator of the vehicle was injured and transported to the hospital. The train passengers remained on the train. There is no Hazmat release or train derailment. It is unknown of who responded to the scene. The main line has been reopened and train traffic resumed as normal.

Per the NRC report: Caller reported a trespasser incident involving an unknown vehicle and train Amtrak 573. Caller stated the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital, but did not know the status of the individual. Caller stated there was no release or potential for release of materials. Remedial Actions: Vehicle driver transported by local EMS, track cleared, investigation conducted. Crossing Device Type: CROSSBUCKS. Device Operational: YES. DOTCrossing Number: 026791P. Railroad Involved: METRO LINK. Train Number: AMTRAK 573. Train Type: PASSENGER Train Direction: E. Track Speed: 60. Locomotives: 1 Cars: 6. State/Local Agencies on scene: Local First Responders.
