g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, at 1311 this afternoon, a Southwest Gas service technician was performing maintenance and experienced a mechanical failure on the riser. This caused the release of natural gas into the atmosphere. The gas release was stopped at 1339 this afternoon. It was a 1/2 inch plastic service line that failed. There was no vapor visible. There was no fire or explosion. The area is safe. There was one evacuation, and it was the resident at the listed location. No other agencies are on site. Southwest Gas personnel will complete the repairs.
