DESCRIPTION: Per reporting party, while conducting routine business the reporting party struck a water line in a ditch, causing a release of an unknown amount of oil that flowed into the Long Beach waters creating a sheen of 150 FT x 30 FT. Clean up will be conducted by a contractor. The spill has been stopped and contained within the area. Local Fire department and the port of Long Beach is currently on scene.

Per NRC:“Caller is reporting that while removing a pipeline on the pier they accidentally struck a water line. This caused water to go into the ditch where they were removing the pipeline. The ditch had residual fuel oil in it which mixed with the water and then went into the port of Long Beach.”
