g. DESCRIPTION: Per the reporting party, while the Contra Costa Water District was drilling a tunnel at a construction site, they pulled a 36 inch pipe thru the tunnel. The pressure of the liquid in the tunnel forced the Bentonite thru a fissure in the ground up to the surface. The Bentonite impacted the terrain, which is a dry upland area, near the construction site at the Marathon Oil Refinery in Concord, CA. The Contra Costa Water District performed the clean-up, and the clean-up is complete. The total amount of Bentonite released in this incident was 500 gallons. No waterway were impacted.
