| g. DESCRIPTION: | Per the Reporting Party : There is some type of release coming from under the water from an unknown source that is creating a small sheen about 4 inches in diameter before dissipating. The sheen is rainbow color with no detectable odor. This was first reported at 1012 todays date and is continuing; divers are currently deployed in an attempt to locate the source. A boom has been placed around the impacted area to contain the material. This is occurring in San Diego Bay. Reporting party is not aware of any underwater pipes or utilities lines at this specific location. No impacts to wildlife have been noticed. There is a 60 foot long barge docked nearby but no other vessels in area. The facilities Fire Department as well as their Facilities Water Front Services (divers) are on scene. NASSCO General Dynamics is a ship building and repair facility. Update: At 1108 the Reporting Party called back to advise that the divers have reported that they were not able to locate a source and whatever the release was has stopped and all material dissipated. Per the NRC Report: "The caller is reporting the discovery of an unknown sheen from an unknown source at the San Diego Bay." Remedial Actions: "Booms applied." | ||
